Fargo VA Health Care System
Workplace Wellness Award
The Fargo VA Health Care System recently received the silver level in the Veterans Health Administration’s national Workplace Wellness Award of Excellence.
The new award is designed to recognize locations that have developed a strong culture of employee well-being.
The Fargo VA will receive a monetary award of $10,000 to be used for projects to continue to promote comprehensive employee health and well-being.
The awards were judged on strong leadership support combined with policies and programs that support activities which allow employees to improve their personal health. Another criteria for the awards was what type of facilities VHA locations had in place to make it easier for employees to take part in healthy activities such as employee fitness centers, walking paths, etc.
“At the Fargo VA, we have several wellness programs in place to make it easier for employees to adopt lifestyles and activities that not only improve their health, but help them positively manage stress,” said Rachel Mustachia, Fargo VA Occupational Health and Wellness Coordinator. “We’re very proud to receive this outstanding award, but what we’re most proud of is having a healthy workforce that helps us at the Fargo VA fulfill our mission of providing first-rate care to our Veterans.”
Examples for Fargo VA employee wellness activities include ergonomics programming, walking challenges, tobacco cessation programming, and nutrition, weight management, physical activity, and stress management in-services.
Only 37 VHA locations nationwide received the award’s gold, silver, or bronze level.
