The Fargo Veterans Affairs Health Care System and Dakotas Regional Office, in conjunction with the Three Affiliated Tribes, will be sponsoring a two day Veteran event at the 4 Bears Casino and Lodge in New Town, N.D. on May 14 and May 15, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.   All Veterans are welcome to attend.

The Welcome Home event will include medical exams and evaluations for newly discharged Veterans.

A Women’s Health and Wellness program will be presented for female Veterans on May 14 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with lunch provided.   Pre-registration for the Women’s program is requested by May 7.  Please contact Glenda Trochmann, Women Veteran Program Manager, at 701-239-3700, extension 9-3893.

The Compensation and Informational Fair is an opportunity for the Veteran community to apply for Veteran’s benefits in one location without traveling to the Fargo Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Veterans Service Center.   Counselors will be available to facilitate enrollment in VA programs.  Social workers from the Fargo VA Health Care System Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom program will also be available to meet with Veterans.

Veterans’ service organization representatives will be available from the American Legion, American Veterans (AMVETS), Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), and the North Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs to assist all Veterans, dependents, and survivors with their claims.   All Veterans are encouraged to bring a copy of their DD214 (Discharge Papers), service medical or personnel records, and any Department of Veterans Affairs paperwork they may have received at an earlier date.

Questions can be referred to Margaret Wheelden, Public Affairs Officer, at 701-239-3724.
