Please join us for an Introduction to Whole Health at the Fargo VA Medical Center, June 8 or 19!

Dates/Times/Locations: Friday June 8, 8-10 a.m., in the Whole Health & Wellness Center (2E-25), or Tuesday June 19, 4-6 p.m., in room 1A-50 (first floor by the west/flagpole entrance), at the Fargo VA Medical Center, 2101 Elm St. North, Fargo N.D.

The classes are open to Veterans transitioning from service who are not enrolled in VA health care, new enrollees to VA health care, and currently enrolled Veterans. Each class is a stand-alone session – participants only need to attend on one of the dates.

Introduction to Whole Health classes are designed to introduce Veterans to the VA Whole Health approach to care. Whole Health recognizes the patient as a whole person and helps support their unique answer to the question, “What would you do if your health were the best it could be?” Whole Health goes beyond illnesses, injuries, or disabilities. It focuses on the patient’s values, aspirations, health, well-being, and includes self-care and complementary therapies, such as acupuncture, massage, yoga, tai chi, and mindfulness, along with conventional medical care. In Whole Health care, the patient is a more active partner with their health team. The number one goal is for the patient to accomplish the mission they create for themselves.

Through the Fargo VA’s programs and services and, most importantly, the patient’s own strengths and abilities, we will work together to optimize patients’ well-being with a focus on what is important to the patient.

Transitioning from the service can pose unique challenges and opportunities. During the classes, professionals will discuss why a whole health approach is helpful in meting these challenges.
