Implementation of GetWell Network: An interactive Patient Care System at the Bedside
What the implementation of GetWell Network has meant to me as a nurse in providing patient care?
Heidi Houska RN:
It has provided me with the tools to direct health education that can be done by the patient as he or she desires and can involve his family. Veterans have noted to me how the GetWellNetwork diabetes videos were very helpful; “I learned more from the videos I watched than any other education”. Another comment; “I wash my hands more after learning about MRSA”.
Erin Telander RN:
I can more actively involve the patient in maintaining their comfort during their hospital stay. A Veteran with dementia was very agitated and after watching our relaxation videos he was finally able to relax in the hospital environment. A Veteran expressed his delight when he was able to shop online to purchase his favorite shirts.
Nicole Ueckert RN:
The ability to provide music in the patient room has really enhanced care and the patient experience. We were able to use the Pandora feature with a Hospice Veteran and his family. They noted how enjoyable it was to listen to his favorite songs during those last few hours.
