The Veterans Crisis Line connects Veterans in crisis and their families and friends with qualified, caring Department of Veterans Affairs responders through a confidential toll-free hotline, online chat, or text. This is one resource available to Veterans.

During the month of September, there will be various activities occurring at the Fargo VA to bring awareness and education about Suicide Prevention.  All Veterans and their families are invited to attend any of these free and informative events.  No registration is needed. 

Monday, Sept. 10, 2012
3rd Floor Auditorium
8:30am-12pm

Resource Fair- This event is open to VA employees, Veterans, families and friends. Veterans will get the opportunity to meet with contacts from VA Programs to include: Caregiver Support, Healthcare for Homeless Veterans, Woman's Veterans, OEF/OIF, Health Promotion Disease Prevention, Minority Veterans, Suicide Prevention and more.

First Link Group Presentation for Survivors of Suicide Loss- This presentation is open to employees, Veterans, their families and friends. Facilitators of the group will present on their group process and answer questions about suicide loss or how to become more involved in the ongoing group. Reducing Suicide Risk- This event will focus on pain management and substance abuse. Open to employees, Veterans, their families and friends.  Psychology and Substance Abuse staff members will address these topics and answer questions about resources and programming within Fargo VA.

Reducing Suicide Risk- Population Specific Risks- Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Veterans.  This presentation is open to all VA employees, Veterans, their families and friends. University of North Dakota Professor Bruce Reeves will present on dispelling myths surrounding this population.
