All Veterans are encouraged and welcome to attend. The event will take place at the Turtle Mountain Transportation Building, 1300 Ogema Road, Belcourt, North Dakota on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, October 17, 2012, from 9:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m.

The Fargo Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Dakotas Regional Office, in conjunction with the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians, Indian Health Service, Turtle Mountain Communications, Dakota Carrier Network and IdeaOne, will be sponsoring a two day Veteran event at the Turtle Mountain Transportation Building, 1300 Ogema Road, Belcourt, North Dakota on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, October 17, 2012, from 9:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m.  All Veterans are welcome to attend. 

The Welcome Home event will include medical exams and evaluations for newly discharged Veterans.  The Women’s Health and Wellness program will be presented for female Veterans on Tuesday, October 16, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with lunch provided.   Pre-registration for the Women’s program is encouraged by contacting Linda Marquart, Women Veteran Program Manager, at 701-239-3786.

We will also have the following educational events in the transportation auditorium on Wednesday, October 17:

9:00 a.m.       Diabetes education

9:30 a.m.       Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom

The Compensation and Informational Fair is an opportunity for the Veteran community to apply for Veteran’s benefits in one location without traveling to the Fargo Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Veterans Service Center.   Counselors will be available to facilitate enrollment in VA programs.  Social workers from the Fargo VA Medical Center Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom program will also be available to meet with Veterans.   Flu shots will be available for eligible Veterans enrolled with VA.

Veterans’ service organization representatives will be available from the American Legion, American Veterans (AMVETS), Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), and the North Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs to assist all Veterans, dependents, and survivors with their claims.   All Veterans are encouraged to bring a copy of their DD214 (Discharge Papers), service medical or personnel records, and any Department of Veterans Affairs paperwork they may have received at an earlier date.
